Gray Davis - Failure as Governor
Gray Davis has failed at his job. He has misled the public about the severity of the state budget deficit. And California can't afford to wait three years before the next governor is elected.
Gray Davis - Cooking the Books to Get Re-Elected
During the last campaign, Gray Davis knew full well that a multi-billion dollar budget deficit was looming on the horizon. Instead of honestly addressing the crisis, he and his aides took to accounting practices that made those of Enron look honest. Gray Davis knew that if the public knew the truth about the dire straits of the state's finances, he would have a very difficult time getting re-elected.
Gray Davis - Spending Out of Control
Once the election was over, Gray Davis suddenly announced that the state was $35 Billion in debt. Under his watch, state spending increased nearly 40% in four years. He claims that he is not responsible for the budget deficit, but he is wrong. Revenues over the four previous years had increased. They just didn't increase enough to feed the obscene growth of state government operations.
The fact is that voters did not have all of the information they needed when they cast their ballots last November. People were deceived by Gray Davis. By hiding a budget crisis, the Governor broke his oath with the men and women of California.
Gray Davis - Deserves to be Recalled
The effort to recall Gray Davis is an attempt to set the record straight. Voters have a right to cast an informed ballot - a right that was cast aside by Governor Davis in the last election. Now that the facts are out in the open - the state is bankrupt, spending is out of control, and jobs are fleeing the state to name a few - the voters should have an opportunity to decide for themselves if they feel Governor Davis deserves to remain as the state's Chief Executive Officer.
That is why a group of concerned citizens and taxpayers joined forces to call for the question - Shall Governor Davis be removed from office?
Rescue California - California Can't Wait
Rescue California and the entire recall effort is about protecting democracy. This recall is about letting voters exercise their right to cast an informed ballot. And this recall is about making sure California is rescued from permanent bankruptcy.
