HAHN RECEIVES SERVICE EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION ENDORSEMENT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mayor Jim Hahn today announced that he has received the endorsement of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) locals in Los Angeles, which represent hundreds of thousands of men and women who work in service industries ranging from health care workers to janitors to public service.

“Mayor Hahn has proven that he cares about the issues that matter to all workers in Los Angeles, like increasing access to affordable health care,” said SEIU Local 1877 President Mike Garcia.

“Mayor Hahn has been instrumental in addressing the needs of working men and women in Los Angeles and because of his leadership my 120,000 members are proud to endorse him for a second term to lead this great city,” said SEIU 434B President Tyrone Freeman.

“Jim Hahn led the effort to unite the city over the issue of secession and he has continued to lead and deliver for working families,” said SEIU Local 660 President Alejandro Stephens.  “SEIU Local 660 is proud to stand with our SEIU brothers and sisters in endorsing our Mayor Jim Hahn.”

Other SEIU locals in Los Angeles include SEIU Local 399, SEIU Local 347, SEIU Local 535, and SEIU Local 99.

“I have worked with SEIU over the years to improve the quality of life for all Los Angeles residents and look forward to working with Los Angeles service employees in my second term as mayor,” said Mayor Hahn.  “Their support is a tremendous asset to my campaign, and I know that working together we will win next year.”
