COUNCILMAN NATE HOLDEN ENDORSES MAYOR HAHN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Former Councilman Nate Holden endorsed Mayor Hahn's re-election today.

"Jim Hahn has been a trusted friend to my community and to this city, and I'm not going to trade in a proven old friend for an unproven new one," Councilman Holden said. "Jim Hahn will level with you. I know both candidates, and Jim Hahn is by far the best qualified to lead the city for the next four years. The city is safer, major job programs are being implemented, and the kids have a place to go after school. Jim Hahn will keep Los Angeles moving forward."

"Leadership is about results, not rhetoric," Mayor Hahn said. "Violent crime is down almost 20 percent, the pace of housing construction has doubled, and we're on the way to making sure every elementary student has a safe place to learn during those crucial after school hours. Los Angeles needs a mayor who will focus on the tough decisions that are needed to accelerate our momentum. "I am proud and honored that Councilman Holden is joining my effort to win this election and make sure Los Angeles keeps moving forward."

Mayor Hahn was joined by Councilman Holden and community members at Mama's House restaurant on Crenshaw Blvd. Mayor Hahn also announced today the endorsement of Dr. Kenneth C. Ulmer, who pastors at Faithful Central Bible Church. He joins a growing list of African American leaders supporting Mayor Hahn including the family of Mayor Tom Bradley; former Councilman David Cunningham; Rev. William Epps of 2nd Baptist Church; JB Hardwick of Praises of Zion Baptist Church; Rev. Leslie White of Grant AME; Rev. Mark Whitlock, the Senior Pastor of Christ Our Redeemer Church and a past Associate Pastor of First AME; Sweet Alice Harris; and Herb Hudson, owner of Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles.

Mayor Hahn's administration reflects the diversity of Los Angeles. Three of Mayor Hahn's seven deputy mayors are African American, as is the president of the police commission, city department general managers, and other key personnel appointed by the mayor.

Under Mayor Hahn, violent crime is down almost 20 percent citywide, gang crime is down in every LAPD bureau, the department is pursuing an aggressive community policing program, response times are down and more police officers on the street.

Mayor Hahn has expanded the LA's BEST after school program started by Mayor Tom Bradley into additional schools at a record pace to serve more than 20,000 students.

Since Mayor Hahn took office, the pace of housing production in Los Angeles has doubled, including new housing at Marlton Square, the largest redevelopment project in South LA history.
