MAYOR HAHN WINS L.A./ORANGE COUNTY BUILDING TRADES ENDORSEMENT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Los Angeles - Mayor Jim Hahn announced today that he has earned the endorsement of the 100,000-member Los Angeles/Orange County Building Trades Council.

"Mayor Hahn has not only created jobs, but good jobs that provide healthcare, offer secure retirements and allow working parents to save for their kids' education," said Richard Slawson, Executive Secretary of the Los Angeles/Orange County Building Trades. "Mayor Hahn's work to turn Los Angeles around, starting with bringing crime down 18 percent, is creating jobs, attracting investments and is helping working families live better lives."

"I am proud that the 100,000-member Building Trades Council has recognized my work to create jobs, a safer city and more housing opportunities for working families," Mayor Hahn said. "Together, we will continue Los Angeles' momentum of lower crime, increased housing production and more jobs. I am honored to have the support of the Los Angeles/Orange County Building Trades."

The endorsement of the Building Trades comes on the heels of the recent support Mayor Hahn received from the 800,000-member Los Angeles County Federation of Labor and the Police Protective League, which represents Los Angeles' rank-and-file police officers. Mayor Hahn's re-election has also been endorsed by U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (campaign co-chair); Councilmembers Garcetti, Hahn, LaBonge, Miscikowski, Perry, Reyes and Smith; and a growing number of labor organizations including the Service Employees International Union locals in Los Angeles, the Southern California District Council of Laborers, AFSCME District Council 36, Teamsters Joint Council 42, United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 770, Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters, Ironworkers Local 433, the United Firefighters of Los Angeles City, Communication Workers of American Southern California Council, and the Southern California Pipe Trades.
