SUPERVISOR ANTONOVICH ENDORSES MAYOR HAHN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

County Supervisor Mike Antonovich, who represents a large swath of the Los Angeles region including a significant part of the San Fernando Valley, today endorsed Mayor Hahn's re-election.

"Mayor Hahn shares my strong belief that public safety must be the number one priority of our local governments. Mayor Hahn has police officers from behind desks and onto the streets and restored the city's community policing program, and today violent crime is down 18 percent," Supervisor Antonovich said. "I was pleased to have worked with Mayor Hahn and Governor Schwarzenegger to pass Proposition 1A – preventing the free-spending Sacramento politicians from hijacking hundreds of millions of city and county taxpayer dollars."

"Our momentum is headed in the right direction. The last four year  have seen crime drop almost 20 percent, more than $10 billion in new investment and the fastest expansion of city afterschool programs in history. Los Angeles needs a leader who can be truste  to make the tough decisions to keep our city moving forward," Mayor Hahn said. "I have been proud to have partnered with Supervisor Antonovich on making Los Angeles a better city, and I am honored that our partnership will continue through this campaign and over the next four years."

Today in Los Angeles, violent crime is down almost 20 percent citywide, gang crime is down in every LAPD bureau, the departmen  is pursuing an aggressive community policing program, response times are down and more police officers on the street.

Mayor Hahn earlier this week asked the city to develop a citywide gang injunction. Mayor Hahn pioneered the use of gang injunctions when he was City Attorney, and today there are 22 across Los Angeles.

"My record on fighting gangs and fighting crime has been clear and consistent. When I was pioneering the use of gang injunctions in the City Attorney's office, my opponent was head of the local ACLU and was suing on behalf of gang members to stop me," Mayor Hahn said. "I will not be deterred from making sure Los Angeles is America's safest big city."

Mayor Hahn received Supervisor Antonovich's endorsement on the steps of the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration in Downtown, flanked by representatives of neighborhood councils, the United Firefighters of Los Angeles City (UFLAC), the Police Protective League (PPL) and other community members. UFLAC and the PPL have previously endorsed Mayor Hahn.
