MAYOR HAHN WINS SUPPORT FROM MAYOR TOM BRADLEY’S FAMILY, OTHER PROMINENT AFRICAN AMERICAN LEADERS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mayor Tom Bradley’s family joined African American religious, business, government and community leaders today in endorsing Jim Hahn for re-election.

"Mayor Jim Hahn has helped the community I live in and all of Los Angeles by fighting crime, building housing and creating jobs," said Ethel Bradley, wife of the late Mayor Tom Bradley. "Jim Hahn has never stopped fighting for our community and will keep up the fight over the next four years as our mayor. I strongly endorse Mayor Hahn."

“The city has grown, and will continue to grow, with the leadership of Jim Hahn,” said Lorraine Bradley, Mayor and Ethel Bradley’s daughter.

Lorraine Bradley represented the Bradley family at today’s endorsement event at 2nd Baptist Church in South Los Angeles. She was joined by dozens of other leaders in the African American community.

“We know who has worked with us,” community activist Sweet Alice Harris said. When crime rates were high, she said, “We went to the mayor and told him things had to change. We are supporting Mayor Hahn because he listened to us. Crime is now going down.”

“We are in Jim Hahn’s corner 100 percent,” Rev. William Epps of 2nd Baptist Church said.

“I worked hard as a Councilman to empower and improve my city and community, but we still have a long way to go. Jim Hahn will get us there,” said former L.A. City Councilman David Cunningham, Jr. “I am pleased and proud to endorse Jim Hahn because I know he will continue to give the leadership and create the housing, jobs and opportunities that our city and community sorely need.”

“Mayor Hahn has earned my support because he has taken action to create jobs and economic opportunities in the African American business community,” businessman Gene Hale said. “He helped revise the sales tax structure for small businesses and created the Small Local Business Advisory Committee which will forever change the way the City of L.A. does businesses with small and minority-owned businesses.”

“When I hear my customers talking about something going right in Los Angeles, so many times, whether they know it or not, they're talking about something Mayor Jim Hahn is responsible for," said Herb Hudson, owner of Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. "As a business owner, I know that Jim Hahn's focus on small businesses has helped create jobs and wealth in our community - where they're needed most. I am proud to endorse Jim Hahn for Mayor."

“Los Angeles is starting to turn around with lower crime, record levels of housing development and 40,000 jobs, and I’m going to keep up the momentum to make Los Angeles a city we will be proud to leave to our kids,” Mayor Hahn said. “I’m proud that so many leaders in the African American community have worked with me to improve our neighborhoods and are joining my campaign to make sure our progress toward safer streets and economic opportunity for all Los Angeles residents continues.”
