WARREN CHRISTOPHER ENDORSES HAHN
Former Secretary of State Warren Christopher today announced his endorsement of Jim Hahn for Mayor of Los Angeles. Christopher noted Hahn's distinguished record of public service and his proven experience working with Los Angeles's diverse communities among his reasons for supporting his candidacy.
"Jim Hahn has a long record serving the people of Los Angeles," said Christopher. "It will take someone with his experience, dedication, and knowledge to meet the many challenges facing Los Angeles – from improving schools to increasing public safety to creating a transportation system that works."
"Jim understands that one of the city's greatest assets is the diversity of its people and neighborhoods. He has a proven record of working with communities across Los Angeles and he will use that experience as mayor to make our city an even better place to live and work."
"Jim shares my strong commitment to achieving real and lasting reform of the Los Angeles Police Department. As mayor, his steadfast support for civilian oversight of LAPD will help restore the public's confidence in the department and improve officer morale."
"I am extremely honored to have Warren Christopher's endorsement," said Hahn. "He is highly respected not only for his outstanding record of public service on a national level, but for his efforts to improve our quality of life right here in Los Angeles."
Warren Christopher served as the U.S. Secretary of State from 1993 to 1997. In 1991, Christopher chaired the Independent Commission on the LAPD, which proposed significant reforms to the department following the Rodney King incident. He is currently a partner at O'Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles.
