HAHN ANNOUNCES ENDORSEMENT BY LABORERS' UNION
Laborers' Are Second Major Union in One Week to Endorse Hahn
Los Angeles - In another major sign of growing union support for his candidacy, Jim Hahn today announced the endorsement of his campaign by Laborers' Local 300. Local 300 represents more than 6,000 men and women in Los Angeles, primarily in the construction trade.
"Jim Hahn is a friend of working men and women, and will be a fighter for the issues we care about -- good jobs, fair wages, and strong communities where we can raise our children safely. This region, economically, is booming. Jim has the experience and the energy to keep it going. Jim is also the one candidate who can bring all parts of this city together again. That's why we support him and will work hard to elect him as our next Mayor," said Sergio Rascon, Business Manager for Local 300.
"Making Los Angeles a more livable place has always been a top priority. As the City Attorney, I have worked to clean up neighborhoods and improve the safety of children and families. I will bring this same innovative approach to solving real problems into the Mayor's office so we can fix our schools, improve public safety, and bring more good jobs to our communities. The men and women of the Laborers' share these goals, and I am very grateful to have their support," said Hahn.
The endorsement of Local 300, whose membership is overwhelmingly Latino, represents another benchmark in Hahn's effort to establish strong support in every community throughout the city. Hahn also continues to build strong momentum amongst organized labor, having just recently announced the endorsement of the Pipe Trades, representing 14,000 members, and already having received the support of the Carpenters Union, Operating Engineers Local 501, and Laborers' Local 802 among others.
