HAHN NAMES BILL WARDLAW CHAIRMAN OF 2001 MAYORAL CAMPAIGN

Los Angeles - City Attorney Jim Hahn today announced that prominent Los Angeles attorney Bill Wardlaw will serve as Chairman of his 2001 mayoral campaign.

“I could not be more honored that Bill Wardlaw has agreed to serve as Chairman of my campaign. Bill has demonstrated time and again his commitment to Los Angeles, its residents, and its future. Whether as an advisor to Mayor Riordan, Co-Chairman of Los Angeles’ successful bid for the Democratic National Convention, or as a key force behind the passage of the new City Charter, Bill has demonstrated tremendous leadership, great judgment, and an ability to bring people together. He’s also a fighter. It’s great to have those qualities as part of my campaign team,” Hahn said.

“This campaign is about building on the strong foundation that is now in place, and continuing to work to make this a safer city, with good schools, and strong neighborhoods. Los Angeles must be a city of opportunity for everyone. Bill understands and shares my goals, and I’m glad he’s joined my team to help make these goals a reality”, Hahn added.

“As City Attorney, Jim Hahn has demonstrated great innovation and determination in tackling problems like violent street gangs, slum housing, domestic violence, and elder abuse. Jim has shown me that he is willing to fight the tough fights no matter how difficult the challenge,” said Bill Wardlaw.

Bill Wardlaw served as Chairman of Mayor Richard Riordan’s 1993 and 1997 mayoral campaigns, State Chairman of the 1992 and 1996 Clinton/Gore Presidential campaigns, and is a Co-Chair of LA 2000 which is the Host Committee for the 2000 Democratic National Convention.
