A new poll released Monday shows Los Angeles City Attorney James Hahn continuing to hold his lead in the April 10 election for mayor, with a tight group behind him fighting to get into a June runoff.
Hahn was listed as the choice of 28 percent of those polled for ABC7 Eyewitness News/Survey USA.
The poll confirmed the findings of other surveys conducted over the course of the past month on Hahn's position as well as the closeness of the race with six leading candidates.
In second place was former Assembly Speaker Antonio Villaraigosa, with 16 percent, placing him in a virtual dead heat with businessman Steve Soboroff, who was at 15 percent. Councilman Joel Wachs had 13 percent with state Controller Kathleen Connell at 12 percent and Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Los Angeles, at 7 percent.
The remaining 9 percent were either undecided or voting for another candidate, the poll said.
Pollsters questioned 1,000 registered voters Saturday and Sunday. The poll has a 3.2 percent margin of error.
